This antique 19th Century two-part packing case or transporting case is a rare survivor indeed, it was used to carry and protect a secretaire chest of drawers from the rigours of campaign life.
Probably made of pine and strengthened with iron strap work and with internal movable shelves the cases have been over painted a few times and have had some restorations to the bottom parts of the cases.
The cases can also benefit from a contemporary oak supporting base with removable beeding to give it some height and make it a more useful piece of furniture in its own right.
Wear and tear commensurate with age and use with small paint chips here and there.
Size. 105.5cm x 51.5cm x 115.5cm h. (with table 158.5cm h)
