Antique Longcase Clock Jones Bristol

Description

A mahogany longcase clock with an arched hood pediment surmounted by 3 finials. A wavy hood edging and turned hood columns. Choice flame mahogany veneers to the case trunk and base with inlays. Chamfered trunk sides. An arched painted dial with floral corners and a country scene with two figures. A date aperture and seconds dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

Henry Jones of Bristol is recorded in AJ Moores' 'The Clockmakers of Bristol' book as workingfrom 1849-1850. The dial is signed '33, Bottom of Broad Street'.

Height 7ft 1" / 216 cms
