NOTE: During the early part of the 18th Century Liege, a city along the Meuse River in Belgium’s French-speaking Walloon region became a notable centre for the manufacture of Glass items. It is particularly associated with the complicated and highly intricate manufacture of “spun” glass or “a traforata” which name indicates that the origin of this technique was Venice. Indeed the Venetians took drastic steps to prevent the spread of falcon de Venice to Northern Europe.
We are pleased to offer this special rare piece as the nature of this product being fragile and made for regular use meant that most of this glass did not survive.
