Fine 18th c. Louis XVI Marble Topped Commode
Late eighteenth century French commode. c.1770
Oak carcass with veneer to the whole and of a breakfront form
Heavy shaped grey and white marble top
The body with five drawers, three to the top and two full length drawers below. Original gilt metal handles and escutcheon plates. Parquetry inlay to the whole with feathered satinwood, mahogany crossbanding and decorative stringing. The whole carried on tapered inlaid feet

A handsome and quality piece of period European furniture which we are very pleased to offer.
The marble of good condition, a rough edge to the back as manufactured, minor nibbles in align with age. The commode of an attractive and rich polished colour. Some signs of aged wear including a small section of damage to the lower middle escutcheon. The key of a functional quality to pull the middle drawer, though does not lock.
