A superb quality 17th Century walnut Vargueno on stand, the rectangular case having the original iron carrying handles either side and strapwork decoration, the front having a shield shaped lock plate at the centre and and engraved lock plates at either side, the hinged fall lifting down to reveal a wonderful fitted interior comprising of sixteen drawers and two cupboards, which all have moulded front decoration and original brassware, the central top drawer having an arched panel drawer front with columns either side pulling out to reveal a secret drawer at the bottom, supported on a possibly later stand with turned columns terminating on sleigh feet which is united by a decorative turned and arched shaped stretcher.
