Technical Description
A 19th century engraved and gilded glass berry dish dating to c1880.
Beautifully engraved and gilded flowers around a gilded rim with bands of stars within arches below. Polished pontil with engraved and gilded flowers.
A rather delightful piece of glass, often described as a wine taster but more likely used for holding berries and small fruits.
Influenced by the Spanish La Granja glassworks of the 18th century, by the late 19th century the style was being copied in both England, France and Bohemia.
