Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1920s.
This small and graceful bowl is a stunning example of early 20th-century ceramic art.

The base of the bowl bears the Wedgwood backstamp—Portland Vase Mark with three stars under the vase—confirming the authenticity of the piece.
This unique bowl shape is rare, making it particularly attractive to collectors of Daisy Makeig-Jones' work. Susannah Margaretta ‘Daisy’ Makeig-Jones was an influential pottery designer for Wedgwood, best known for her Fairyland Lustre series, which debuted shortly after she became a full-time designer in 1914. She masterfully combined underglaze variegation, overglaze iridescence, and intricate gilded patterns to create a completely new and mesmerizing style.

The Shine series, which includes this bowl (pattern Z5294), showcases Daisy's innovative use of color and design. Produced between 1914 and 1929, these early pieces have become highly sought after by collectors due to their unique artistic qualities and limited production. Daisy's work, characterized by her vivid imagination and technical skill, is increasingly appreciated as both artistic treasures and worthy investments.

Dimensions: Diameter 9.5 cm, height 3.2 cm.
Condition: The bowl is in excellent antique condition, with some paint rubbing on the bottom rim. The lustre and gilding remain bright.
