Antique Britannia Silver Porringer & Cover.

1900 - 1920
Description

Edwardian Britannia silver porringer and cover; of circular Charles II ,two handled style. Resting on a circular foot with applied leaf design to the bottom third of the body, and leaf-capped twin handles, the interior is beautifully gilded. The cover is a joy to behold, with more leaf design, and a wonderful "cabbage" knop. Britannia silver is of purer quality than standard Sterling, being 950/1000 against 925/1000 for Sterling. This is a marvellous piece of silver, by one of the great manufacturers of the time.
