AC Silver has dated this Silver Sarcophagus Vesta Case to the 1880s.

The body of this Victorian vesta case is embellished with engraved decoration, replicating the details of the sarcophagus hieroglyphics/memorial illustrations.
This antique vesta case is fitted with a hinged cover ornamented with embossed details replicating the coffin sculpture's anatomical features and attire.

The lower portion of the body bears a serrated panel/match striker and the upper portion incorporates a ring loop attachment.
Such examples in this fine condition are rare and becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

Condition
This antique silver box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the interior of this Egyptian sarcophagus vesta case and surface of the opposing cover are all very clear.
