Antique Victorian Satin Birch Wardrobe

A lovely wardrobe with great proportions.

We are delighted to bring to you one of the finest examples of a rare Victorian (circa 1880) small single wardrobe, ideal for any period property. This wardrobe features a great shape with a curved frontage and beautifully shaped top pediment, complete with a carved centre. The wardrobe is made from Satin Birch, complete with curved and moulded front panel accents flanking either side.

Unusual for a wardrobe of this type, this wardrobe has a pleated material behind a gold mesh in place of a usual piece of mirror glass. This has likely been changed by a previous owner as the wardrobe would have likely had a mirror glass panel originally, however, we loved the look so have left it as is (we could quote to change to mirror glass if required).

This simple yet elegant wardrobe is in an outstanding condition with its original beautiful mellowed French polished finish which really shows off the beautiful Satin Birch fiddle back grain. This small single wardrobe is ideal for smaller bedrooms or even in a hallway as storage for coats and shoes. There is great space inside for the size of this wardrobe complete with 2 front to back hanging rails either side and 1 centre hook. The base consists of a moulded edge large finely dovetailed drawer with turned knobs, the base finishes to a lovely cross-banded simple curved plinth.

This wardrobe easily breaks down into 4 pieces for transport, it is a drop on system without screws or fixings.

We have just carefully cleaned and waxed this item, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.

Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
