Early Victorian Mahogany Two Door Bookcase Cabinet

£1,200    $1,537    €1,448
A handsome and unusual early Victorian mahogany two door bookcase / cabinet dating to c.1850. The top section with rectangular moulded cornice above two arched glazed doors and a long drawer, the thumb moulded base surface above two further short drawers and two fielded arched panelled cupboard doors, standing on a plinth base. With decorative gilt brass ''green man'' handles to the doors and drawers and working locks with keys. The interior with three adjustable shelves to the top and a fixed shelf to the base.

In overall good, sound condition with marks commensurate with age and use including some chips to veneer and mouldings. Good colour and grain to the mahogany and a sign of extra quality is the mahogany linings to the drawers. It will provide useful storage for a 6.38m (nearly 21ft) run of books and the long drawer to the top section has the added advantage of allowing the doors to be opened without moving objects displayed on the top surface (depending on the objects height of course).
