Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Vitreous enamel pails gained widespread popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries due to their hygienic, non-reactive, and waterproof properties. They were manufactured by fusing powdered glass to heavy iron or steel, serving as essential domestic vessels for water transport, laundry, and dairy production.

These vessels were typically stamped or folded from sheet iron or steel, fitted with riveted or welded side handles, and coated in layer after layer of liquid enamel slip. The entire piece was fired at high temperatures in a kiln, fusing the powdered glass to the metal substrate.

Authentic period enamelware displays significant physical weight from heavy-gauge underlying metal, subtle surface imperfections, and authentic age-related chipping or minor oxidisation at stress points such as rims and handles. Modern reproductions are often considerably lighter with artificially uniform distress marks.

A vintage enamel pail functions effectively as a planter for indoor foliage, a container for fireside kindling, or a rustic holder for kitchen utensils and dried florals. Its monochrome palette allows seamless integration into contemporary, industrial, or country-style spaces.

Clean enamelware using warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners that can dull the glassy surface. Ensure exposed metal areas where enamel has chipped are kept dry to prevent rust formation.
