The firm Barraud was established by the eminent maker of chronometers, Paul Philip Barraud (1752-1820; Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1810/11) whose three sons followed him into the business. The company became the partnership of Barraud & Lund in 1838 and continued into business until the end of the 19th century. The relatively earlier number of this chronometer (1973) would date this as circa 1840.
