A pretty Derby porcelain leaf shape pickle dish or butter boat with serrated edge and pierced ''stalk'' Painted with a bright underglaze blue, with a feuille de choux border and the centre with stylised leaf vine, a similar design to that found also at Worcester, and smaller surrounding sprigs. Moulded detail to the reverse. Unmarked c.1770.
It measures 8.3cm (3 1/4'') wide, 9.5cm (3 3/4'') long and 3.5cm (1 3/8'') high.
Condition: the handle has been professionally and subtley repaired (preserving the original surface), and there has also been a carefully filled in small chip to the rim which takes some attention to find. On the reverse is a small filled rim chip and another to the edge of the sharp vein leading to the main point. A very short glaze line can be seen on the reverse to the side of the stalk.
