A reticulated porcelain bowl features an openwork or pierced lattice design, created by painstakingly cutting away geometric or decorative sections of wet clay prior to the firing and glazing process.

Craftsmen hand-cut openings into the soft clay vessel using specialised tools before firing. The piece is then glazed and fired a second time, with gilding and enamel colours applied in subsequent detailed firings.

Authentic pieces display precise hand-cut openwork, crisp mold lines, and hand-applied gilding along the borders. Look for makers marks, impressed factory numbers, or painted pattern numbers on the underside of the base.
