An absolutely beautiful watercolour and gouache landscape painting ''Dartmoor at Dusk'' by Frederick John Widgery (1861-1942). The painting is superbly executed, is signed in the bottom left corner, and is presented in a simple gilt frame with the artists name added to the mount. Definitely one of the nicest watercolours we''ve had the pleasure to own!
Frederick John Widgery was an extremely accomplished artist who predominantly painted landscape scenes of Dartmoor and the Devon and Cornwall countryside and coast. His father and sister were also artists, and he became mayor of Exeter is 1903.
Condition: The painting itself is in excellent condition. The frame has a few small chips and marks - please see the photos.
