A very handsome pair of Spode deep sided shell shaped porcelain dessert dishes decorated with large stylised orange flowers with gilt centres, set amongst vibrant green leaves and buds with large gilt sprays and spreading vines. The moulded shell handle is richly decorated with gilt, the centres with concentric gilt rings and finished with thickly gilded rims. Unmarked, c.1810-1815.
They measure 23cm (9'') long by 21cm (7 7/8'') wide and 5cm (2'') high.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. One has a tight hairline to the foot rim and one has a tiny firing flaw to the glaze in the centre. Minimal handling wear to gilding and enamels.
