Pair of George III Mahogany Knife Boxes

Description

A superb pair of George III Sheraton period mahogany knife boxes; the knife box's lift-up lid is veneered in flame Cuban mahogany with barber's pole stringing and retains the original axe-head handle, the lid opens to reveal a fully fitted interior lined in the original velvet. The knife box's shaped front centred by an elaborate escutcheon and with carrying handles to either side. Retaining an excellent colour and patination.
