Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian armchairs typically feature sturdy hardwood frames made from walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, combined with deep-buttoned upholstery and rounded contouring. The design prioritised comfort, incorporating coiled steel springs and hand-turned or carved legs set on metal castors.

Traditional nineteenth-century construction employed solid timber frames joined with mortise and tenon joints, stuffed with natural horsehair, wool felt, and coconut fibre over steel coil springs, finished in woven fabrics, damasks, or leather.

Authentic pieces feature original turned or carved wooden legs, brass or ceramic castors, hand-stitched webbing underneath, and evidence of hand-carving or minor irregularities in the wood frame beneath the upholstery.

A Victorian armchair can serve as a focal accent piece in a contemporary living space, modern library, or bedroom corner. Neutral upholstery allows the historical silhouette to complement modern minimalism or textured mid-century decor.

Vacuum upholstery regularly using a soft brush attachment to prevent dust accumulation. Keep timber legs hydrated with natural beeswax polish and position the chair away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to avoid fabric fading or wood shrinkage.
