A striking early bucket shaped porcelain coffee can and waisted saucer painted in bright enamels. A wide orange and yellow frieze with ornate gilt decoration sits above a stylised gilt vine with orange berries. To the front of the cup and centre of the saucer is an armorial crest of a griffin passant very well painted in grey enamel with gilt highlights. Further gilt bands run around inside the cup, to the edges and spine of the handle, foot and rims. Unmarked, Chamberlain of Worcester, c.1803-1806.
The cup measures 6.6cm (2 5/8'') high and 7cm (2 3/4'') rim to rim. The saucer measures 13.6cm (5 5/16'') wide and 3.3cm (1 1/4'') high.
In excellent condition with no damage or repair. Some expected wear to the gilding in the well of the saucer and the saucer rim and very slightly to the cup rim. Otherwise handling wear is minimal.
