Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An ilgich is a small square embroidered wall hanging traditionally created by nomadic Lakai women in Central Asia as part of a brides dowry. These textiles served both decorative and symbolic functions within nomadic yurts.

Lakai embroideries are typically worked on silk, cotton, or wool ground fabrics using silk or wool threads. Artisans employ tight chain stitch or cross-stitch techniques to form dense geometric patterns and stylised animal or solar motifs.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces feature natural vegetable dyes that yield soft, complex tones alongside subtle hand-stitching variations. The presence of traditional symbolic motifs, hand-twisted fringe, and age-appropriate fabric wear helps verify period authenticity.

A small tribal embroidery panel can be mounted in a shadow-box frame or hung directly as focal wall art to inject texture and historical narrative into modern minimalist, bohemian, or eclectic interiors.

Keep antique textiles away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and heat sources to prevent thread fading and fibre degradation. Cleaning should be undertaken by professional textile conservators using non-invasive methods, avoiding water or harsh chemicals.
