Description

one side in polished boxwood, the other side in ebony, with French style knights, in the original Jaques box with a sliding lid and green label: 'Set of Chessmen... J. J. & SON LTD LONDON', together with the original printed leaflet: 'Instructions for Playing Chess', including an advertisement for Hudson Maxim's New Game of War.

King: 6.1cm high, Pawn: 2.8cm high, Box: 14cm long.

Reference: Alan Fersht, Jaques & British Chess Company Chess Sets, page 45, figure 72.

Condition: Excellent. Nice and original. A few minor tears and rubbing to the slightly grubby label.
