Staffordshire pearlware figures are lead-glazed earthenware ceramic sculptures produced in Staffordshire, England, primarily between the 1780s and 1830s. They feature a cobalt-tinted glaze over white earthenware clay, often decorated with hand-painted enamel colours and pastoral motifs such as animals or tree canopies known as bocage.

These figures were slip-cast or hand-moulded from white earthenware clay body containing flint and china clay. They were covered in a clear lead glaze slightly tinted with cobalt oxide to create a pearly appearance, then decorated with overglaze enamel colours applied by hand.

Authentic period pieces exhibit cobalt pooling in crevices and underneath the base, showing a slight blue tint. They typically feature hand-painted details with minor imperfections, unglazed bases, and sometimes impressed potters marks such as WALTON on a raised ribbon banner.

Early ceramic figures are frequently displayed on mantelpieces, integrated into curated bookshelf displays, or set atop sideboards within traditional or eclectic interior schemes. Placing them alongside neutral textures or modern glass vessels allows their colours and sculptural shapes to stand out.
