Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bijouterie tables, also known as vitrine tables, originated in 19th-century France and became widely popular during the Edwardian period. They were designed specifically to display valuable trinkets, pocket watches, and small jewellery collections safely beneath glass while keeping them integrated into living room decor.

These tables are primarily constructed using fine hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, often featuring satinwood marquetry inlay. The display compartment incorporates clear glass panels on the top and sides, with interiors lined in silk or velvet and accents trimmed with brass mounts.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut marquetry work, slender cabriole or tapered legs, and original cast brass furniture fittings. Look for traditional joinery techniques, natural age-related patina on the wood surfaces, and original fabric lining inside the glass cabinet.

Position the table as a focal accent piece in a hallway, drawing room, or quiet corner. Use the glazed top compartment to curate a collection of small heirlooms, vintage coins, or botanical specimens, allowing the furniture to double as a functional display area.

Clean the glass panels using a soft microfibre cloth dampened with a mild glass cleaner, taking care not to let moisture touch the wood borders. Protect the timber and inlay by regularly applying a natural beeswax polish and positioning the table away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
