Description

A very pretty Spode bone china porcelain London shape cup and saucer, elaborately decorated with an oriental theme, smothered with gilding and with touches of mazarine blue and iron red to reflect an imari type palette. The outside of the cup and centre of the saucer depict an oriental fence with a large urn of flowers and stylised floral sprays. The main frieze inside the cup and around the saucer has an all-over gilt scrolled background with oval shaped reserves each with a small red bird in branches. Finished with gilt foot rings and handle. Marked with SPODE in red script and pattern number 1495, c.1815.

The cup measures 8.8cm (3 1/2") rim to rim and 5.8cm (2 1/4") high to the rim. The saucer measures 14cm (5 1/2") wide and 3cm (1 1/8") high.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair and minimal handling wear.
