N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

The piece is a beautiful example of Victorian style and Egyptian revival theme. This center piece would make a stunning addition to any home decor collection, especially for those who appreciate historic and cultural pieces. The detailing on the camels and the blankets is exquisite as can be seen from the photographs.

The inside of the camel and the gilt bears the THE 'VICTORIAN LOZENGE' dating 'REGISTERED MODEL' OF 'THE UK PATENT OFFICE'. This dates this to 25th January 1872 Unlike silver items, there is no date letter on silverplate allowing to recognize the date of its manufacture. For silverplate items the patent's date of registered models may be useful for an approximate dating. We have found a similar example which was by Elkington.
The glass plate to the top is beautifully etched which sets it off superbly.
The approximate dimensions are:
8 3/4 "/ 22 cm high x 8 1/4" / 21 cm diameter
