Brief Description:
 
This is a large exceptional pair of late 19th century Norfolk Marinescape Oil on Board Paintings.
 
The tall beautifully framed pieces were painted by the Royal Academy Listed and Norfolk artist John Edward Bale (1834-1913).
 
Bale was also a Captain of the Army during the army''s tour of West Africa - please see the web for more info.
 
The paintings portray Victorian barges and other vessels that are moored jetties.s
 
The colours of the work are something to behold and they are both signed by the artist.
 
It is believed that these portray an area surrounding Norfolk which is where the artist painted most.
 
They are both mounted within the truly outstanding quality large period gilt frames that retain the original Victorian glass protective panels.
 
Indeed, they are a formidable-looking pair when hung and one will one pleased to know that they are both free from any previous repair or restoration.
