Black Forest Bear Tobacco Jar C.1900

1900 - 1920
Description

Black Forest wear tobacco jar holder produced in and around the Swiss town of Brienz c.1900. Carved in Linden (or Lime) wood as two Black Forest bear cubs playing around a tree stump. Very well carved bears with glass eyes. Hinged top opens to reveal space inside for a tobacco jar, the small holder on the side would have been for matches. Excellent condition.
