Description

This handsome antique cordite carrier stick stand which dates from the early 20th century is made of cork, lined in canvas and has a leather outer.

This great looking carrier has two chunky handles which are fixed to the sides with brass rivets and the front is stamped with a letter N, a broad arrow and JAH indicating that this was used by the British Navy to carry artillery ammunition.

Today these look wonderful on display and make attractive stick / umbrella stands which fit nicely in the hall or living room.

Date: WW1 - c1915.

Marked: JAH. N. Broad Arrow to front. Plus two Broad Arrows to base.

Dimensions: Width: 25.5 cm (10"). Depth including handles: 36 cm (14"). Height: 52 cm (28 1/2").

Weight: 6 kg.

Condition: Beautiful antique condition with a wonderful patina and warm rich colour. Some age related wear with scuffs and scrapes. Sits slightly uneven but is sturdy.
