The Georgian chest has been constructed with a single-plank flat top (a sign of quality), with a cleated moulding, above single plank sides, front and back. The elm timbers display a stunning grain configuration and colour. Retaining the original steel carrying handles and key escutcheon, the elm chest also retains the original working steel lock (with key) and brass key escutcheon. The interior is clean, dry, practical and usable. The lid retains its original steel strap hinges, which are in good working condition and there is a brass chain to support the lid whilst open. The back and sides of the trunk retains its original panels. The Georgian elm trunk has been cleaned and wax-polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard.
