Technical Description
A very fine antique Georgian wine glass dating to 1760.
A well proportioned glass, it has a bell bowl with a solid section at the base. Sits on a triple knop, double series opaque twist stem consisting of a pair of spiral tapes, outside a solid loose cable. Conical foot.
Finding a solid cable in an opaque twist stem is very rare and they tend to be reserved as the inner element of a triple twist, either as a thin solid vertical cable as the innermost element, or if you have an eagle eye, as a thin vertical cable within an actual gauze, which is kind of cool. We can''t recall ever having or seeing another solid inner element on a double series glass, thus our attribution as a rare twist.
