Moore Bros Floral and Gilt Decorated Vase, C. 1890, Very Rare

19th century
Description

This vase is a beautiful piece of Victorian art and an antique porcelain centerpiece. The cream and white porcelain vase features a flower bud design and is adorned with rich gold trim. Hand-painted floral decorations with gilt edgework on the bud enhance the vase's beauty and charm. At the bottom, it bears the impressed mark 'Moore' and the printed mark 'Moore Bros,' Reg. No. 190756.

Moore Bros. was a prominent pottery company in England known for manufacturing high-quality pottery with intricate designs and patterns. The company specialized in producing decorative pieces, including vases, pitchers, plates, and other household items, at St. Mary's Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England.

The company was founded in 1872 by Bernard Moore and his younger brother Samuel Vincent Moore. By 1881, they were employing 150 people at their pottery works. The business ended in 1905, and the molds and designs of Moore Bros. were sold. The St. Mary's works were purchased by Thomas C. Wild and later became the home of Royal Albert China. Bernard Moore took premises at Wolfe Street, Stoke, where he became a 'Consultant Potter.' He specialized in glaze effects and became renowned for his research into the glazes of the Far East, producing stunning examples of flambé, sang de boeuf, luster effects, Persian blues, aventurine, and crystalline glazes.

The Moore family is listed among England's renowned and most talented porcelain makers. In the antique market, Moore Bros. works are particularly sought after for their artistic qualities and as a sound investment. The factory existed for just over 30 years before closing, and its rare pieces increase in value year after year.

Dimensions: Height 21.5 cm, Width 22 cm, Depth 22 cm. Weight 1447 grams. Condition: A few small chips on the edges of the leaves. Otherwise, the vase is in excellent antique condition. Particularly impressive is the preservation of the colors and gold patterns with which the vase is profusely decorated.

Please study the accompanying photographs carefully as they form an integral part of this description. The item will be shipped with full tracking and insurance. It is important to note that shipping costs include labor, packaging, and postage.
