Antique Georgian 18ct Gold Amethyst Pendant Necklace Cannetille - C.1820

£1,450    $1,851    €1,757
We are delighted to offer this gorgeous Georgian antique 18ct amethyst pendant made c.1820.

The pendant features a lovely multi stone design with fine cannetille work in between. Cannetille, a technique similar to filigree work was popular in the 1820-30s and features fine gold wires made into motifs of cils, scrolls and fine motifs.

This particular pendant is made from 18ct gold and features 5 larger oval faceted amethysts and 4 smaller and darker amethysts to contrast and accent each quarter. The top freely moving bail has also been set with three small seed pearls.

The amethysts are foil backed and cut in a way that depending on the angle glisten very brightly, making it a delightful piece to wear on a sunny day.

Its design, proportion and craftsmanship culminate in a distinguishing piece of jewellery unlike any contemporary pieces - a fabulous piece of Georgian jewellery ideal for the discerning antique lover and a wonderful way to express your passion of antiques and fine classical style.

A spectacular gift for someone special or for yourself, versatile and agreeable with a variety of clothing and other accessories.

Amethyst is known to be the birthstone for February.

The pendant is unmarked as is common with such articles of this period - as such we have fully tested it indicating 18ct gold.

All of our jewellery comes with a complimentary hard shell gift box with a velvet interior.
