M Lees and Sons has dated this Regency Giltwood Pier Mirror to the Regency era.
A rectangular ‘trumeau’ panel of punched or pounced ground , with raised foliate or oak-leaf decoration and a large central regal lion’s-mask head.

The sides having solomonic twisted architectural column supports topped with corinthian style capitals . The original silvered mirror plate with atmospheric degradation and foxing, having an ebonised slip surround.

The whole mounted on ebonised ball feet. The verso with original panel back-boards .
In excellent original condition, the original gilded surface having achieved a mellow, soft patina .
In the manner of Thomas Fentham (1774-1825) of The Strand , London.
