A fine example of a mid 19thc brass and fruitwood ''misers'' snuff box....so named , because you can determine how much snuff you give to your friend or colleague, by closing up the holes,.... one hole being open is a small pinch of snuff .... to two holes being open is a generous pinch of snuff....it is nicely engraved on the underneath with an elaborate geometric pattern....the snuff box is in very good working order and came from the Brian Hawtin collection.
