Description

A wonderful and most unusual sterling silver double postage stamp box beautifully decorated with an all-over repousse decoration.

The lid is hinged and while held open reveals a smart gilded interior, when released the lid snaps shut.

The box has a clear crisp hallmark for Birmingham 1894, a true Victorian example. The makers initials are present D&F for the highly collectible Deakin & Francis. Founded in 1786, Deakin & Francis is today, seven generations later, still owned and managed by the Deakin family (James, Henry and David Deakin).

Excellent condition, with a footprint measuring 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" x 1 1/4" tall.
