The figurine's base features the company's blue underglaze mark.

Sitzendorf porcelain is one of Germany's oldest and most cherished porcelain marks. Founded in 1850, Sitzendorf gained worldwide recognition for its finely detailed figurines and sculptures. Although the factory began producing porcelain in 1850, it didn't start making figurines until 1884 in the town of Sitzendorf, Thuringia, East Germany. Despite an explosion in 1858 that demolished most of the manufactory, it reopened and continued to operate until World War II.

Genuine Sitzendorf porcelain can be identified by two key marks: a blue crown over the letter "S" with a double cross slash mark, and two crossed lines, both in deep blue. These marks appear on all items from the factory. Sitzendorf porcelain is representative of the Dresden style and pieces made before 1932 are particularly valuable to collectors.
