A beautiful antique Edwardian Suffragette pendant adorned with a pear-cut peridot dropper (approx. 1ct) and a central oval-cut tourmaline with a deep pink hue (approx. 3ct). The gallery has a fabulous Art Nouveau design with scrolling, foliate motifs decorated with twinkling rose-cut diamonds (approx. 0.34ct total).
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
The pendant is a union of platinum and 18ct gold and is accompanied with a fine platinum chain to display it on. It’s a gorgeous Suffragette piece, very rare and in excellent condition.
We recommend you insure for £3,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
