Gents silver Helvetia wrist watch, 1930.

The watch has a good quality hand-winding movement, 15 jewel, 3 adjustments, which is working nicely.

The watch measures 30mm wide excluding the later winding crown, and 30mm high excluding the fixed lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks on the back of the watch for Edinburgh 1930, with a sponsor’s mark for Arthur Rendell.

In 1907, an act came into force which meant that all imported watches had to be assayed in a UK assay office and marked with British import hallmarks. For this, a sponsor's mark was required. In this particular case, Arthur Rendell was an employee, and probably in charge, of the department that handled imported watches at a company called Pringles, the UK's largest wholesalers of jewellery, silverware, clocks and watches, so it was deemed relevant to use his initials.

The case is in lovely condition, just the odd little mark, nothing serious at all.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a vintage Helvetia presentation box (the box does not close 100% because of the thickness of the new strap.
