Jeanne Richard (French, 1892 – ?) – Stylised Flowers in a Pottery Vase
Oil on canvas, first half 20th century. Signed ‘Richard’ (lower right). Housed in its original silvered ripple frame. Label verso for Bourlet & Sons Ltd., 17 & 18 Nassau Street, London. The painting is in good ‘as found’ condition.

Frame: 35 1/2 x 27 1/2. (90 x 70.5 cm).
Also known as Jeanne Richard-Bascoules. Richard was born in 1892 in curey-en-Verdunois, 55150, Meuse, Lorraine, France, on 18 Sep 1892. She was a student of Huguette Carron then a teacher at the Lycée de jeunes filles in Metz, a city where she settled in 1919. She appeared at the Salon des Femmes Peintres in Paris in 1947 and 1948. A member of the GAM, she exhibited in Metz from 1945 and made her debut at the Salon de Nancy in 1946. She is sometimes identified under the name Jeanne Richard-Bascoules.
