Myles Birket Foster 1825-1899.Prominent and highly regarded landscape and figurative painter.Born in North Shields;came to London when he was five.Began as a wood engraver under P.Landells when he was sixteen.Taught himself to paint in the 1850s and became a highly accomplished watercolourist.Travelled all over Europe and was admired by many leading artists of his day.He exhibited widely,and many museums and collections own examples of his work. ‘The Stack Yard ‘ signed watercolour with monogram; provenance : with Walkers Galleries,Harrogate.Christies stencil verso; image size 23.5x34 cms ,framed size 52x60cms.Housed in good quality fretted giltwood and plaster frame with wash line mount
