Antique Solid Silver Gilt Eagle's Head Etui Needle Case - 19th C.

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Artisan Antiques

We are delighted to offer this exquisite piece of solid silver-gilt likely made in France during the 19th c.

This étui (needle case) in spite its small size presents the most wonderful and impressive quality on all fronts.

The cylindrical tubing is in the form of two eagle''s heads which have been incredibly finely detailed with hand-engraved features such as the feathers, eyes and beak. Additionally, the head seamlessly blends into the floral and acanthus leaf motifs which is also meticulously hand engraved continuously along such a small and curved surface.

Its entirety is also fully gilt/vermeil (gold on top of solid silver) which certainly elevates its overall splendour.

Pulling on both ends reveals the inner compartment, once again made with a high degree of care where the ends join perfectly and have a flush fit.

Overall, a splendid and exemplary piece demonstrating superb quality regardless of the object''s size/utility - a true testament to the opulence and craftsmanship of the era. Perfect for the uncompromising collector or as an exquisite gift for someone special/bird lovers.

This piece is unmarked as is fairly common with small articles of this period. As such we have tested it for silver.
