The cylindrical tubing is in the form of two eagle's heads which have been incredibly finely detailed with hand-engraved features such as the feathers, eyes and beak. Additionally, the head seamlessly blends into the floral and acanthus leaf motifs which is also meticulously hand engraved continuously along such a small and curved surface.
Its entirety is also fully gilt/vermeil (gold on top of solid silver) which certainly elevates its overall splendour.
Pulling on both ends reveals the inner compartment, once again made with a high degree of care where the ends join perfectly and have a flush fit.
Overall, a splendid and exemplary piece demonstrating superb quality regardless of the object's size/utility - a true testament to the opulence and craftsmanship of the era. Perfect for the uncompromising collector or as an exquisite gift for someone special/bird lovers.
This piece is unmarked as is fairly common with small articles of this period. As such we have tested it for silver.
