Antique Silver Hot Water Jug

1900 - 1920
Description

A good example of a solid sterling silver hot water jug. It is a simple stylish shape with a shaped wooden handle, gadrooned rim and nicely turned finial. It is engraved on the front "Presented To Flying Officer W.L.McLaren By The Officers. R.A.F Duxford. 14th February 1926".

It is a good quality piece, weighing a total of 441g with the handle.

It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham, 1921. The maker's mark is slightly worn but we believe it is S Blanckensee & Son Ltd.

It is in very good condition for its age. There are no major damages and it displays well . There are a few light surface marks, minor dinks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished is ready for use.

Approximate Measurements:

Height : 9" / 23cm

Width of base : 4" / 10cm

Width with handle : 5" / 13cm

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
