One of the best examples of an early ''Bosun''s'' Persuader, I have bought.....these collectable items were used by senior non commissioned naval officers to be used to keep sailors in line and to press-gang those men that were unwilling to join the naval service....this fine example is made of baleen, which comes from the mouth of the baleen whale....it is weighted at both ends with lead and covered in fine thread, as well as a central thread pattern for decoration.... excellent condition from a private collector.English.
