Sinclairs Antiques and Interiors has dated this Mahogany Gossip Side Chair to the Edwardian era.
It stands on splay legs to the back with tapering square legs to the front united by an H stretcher and a cross stretcher at the back. Like all antiques there imperfections however the chair is sturdy and is a wonderful rich colour. A wonderful example of Scottish history to have in the home.

The well-known 'Gossip' chair was a design by Sir Robert Lorimer of Kellie Castle in Scotland and made by William Wheeler of Arncroach in Fife who was both joiner and wheelwright to the Lorimer family.
