An 18th century marine oil on oak panel, in the manner of George morland. The painting depicts a shipping scene , possibley off the coast of kent. The landscape is brilliantly painted and would benefit from a professional clean as it is very dirty. There is a small area of damage to the top left hand corner of the oak board (missing, please see pictures), however this is not noticable in the frame. The moulded frame is verneered in maple, with a moulded silver gilt slip set within.
A wonderful painting for any collection.
