Small and Exquisite Victorian Silver Cased Scent Bottle by Charles May, Birmingham 1894

Description

This delightful Victorian solid silver scent bottle is dated Birmingham 1894 and bears the marks of Charles May . Of cylindrical form, it is embossed with foliate decorations. The hinged lid opens to reveal a glass inner body fitted with a clear glass stopper. Fully hallmarked on the side and base.

Hallmarks:

CM for Charles May.

Birmingham Assay mark.

Lion passant.

Date letter "u" for 1894.

Dimensions:

Height: 4 cm / 1.2 inches.

Diameter of base: 1.5cm / 0.5 inches.

Condition:

Good

Strong hinge.

Good lid fit. Snaps shut.

Inner glass in perfect condition.

Glass stopper in perfect condition.
