A George V Silver & Tortoiseshell Pique Work Inkwell

A smart and stylish silver inkwell from early in the reign of King George V. This appealing piece is of capstan form, has a hinged lid and removable inkwell liner. The lid is inset with a panel of lightly domed tortoiseshell, with silver pique work. Suitable for dressing a desk, this is an attractive example, both decorative and usable. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Very good, with no losses or splits. There are some ripples to the inside lid rim (shown in photo) and a couple of surface blemishes to the body, all commensurate with age and use.
 
Hallmarks :- Softening but readable
 
Date :- London 1923.
 
Maker :- Collett & Anderson.
 
Base diameter :- 11.4 cms.
 
Height :- 6 cms. (lid closed).
