Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating between 1689 and 1702, William and Mary furniture reflects Dutch and French influences introduced to England, characterised by lighter proportions, elaborate veneering techniques, intricate marquetry, and turned components such as compressed bun or trumpet feet.

Oyster veneer furniture typically utilizes thin cross-sections cut from small branches of olive wood, walnut, or laburnum to expose concentric growth rings, mounted onto solid pine or oak carcasses with hand-cast brass drop handles and escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, hand-sawn carcass timbers displaying slight irregularities, split-drawer construction on larger drawers, and natural age-related shrinkage line fractures along thin veneer joints.

A compact 17th-century chest serves as an anchor piece in modern entryways or living spaces, contrasting well against crisp painted walls, clean-lined modern art, and minimalist lighting fixtures.

Prescribe regular dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and a light application of high-grade beeswax paste to nourish the wood grain, while maintaining a stable humidity level and keeping the furniture away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
